If I Approach One Finger More I Will Burn
Gabriel had the appearance of God. Perhaps he grew in It. He was busy with It. He had no work other than It.
He, like a fish in the sea, was always within the sea of union. He took Muhammed to Mi’rac to show Him God. When Gabriel came to his own rank, he stopped and he couldn’t go farther. Thereupon, when Mustafa (God’s peace be upon Him) uttered him “Come! Why did you stop?”, Gabriel replied “Going beyond this rank pertains to you. If I approach one finger more, I will burn” (Sura: 37, Verse: 164)
After that, Prophet (God’s peace be upon Him) went on His way and saw face of Exalted God via “eyes-on his face” without any visual mistake, as stated in the way that ‘(His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!’ (Sura: 53, Verse: 17).
Anyone who sees God can only see It at the rate of capacity of his/her own comprehension.
