Who Speaks?
One day a dear disciple of the Exalted Mevlana happened to be at a gathering where everyone was reading and talking on various subjects, and trying to show their own superiority. The disciple didn’t speak at all.
Mevlana asked him why he hadn’t expounded on any subject or at least said something. The dervish answered that since it was a gathering of eminent, learned men he had been hesitant to speak.
Mevlana told him, “You should have opened your mouth and I would have spoken.”
