The Scent Of True Human

The prophet Mohammed, the Exalted Mevlana Rumi, all the great ones, are models for us. Whoever is holding their place in the world now is their likeness. Ask about them of that one. They asked Mevlana, "The prophet Mohammed was the rose of the world. That rose is dried up and gone. Where can we get that beautiful rose scent now?" With no hesitation Mevlana Rumi answered, "You'll get the scent of the rose from rose water. That rosewater is us. Whatever you'd want to learn from the Exalted Mohammed you can ask us." And he kept the prophet alive. A rose may have color, but without grafting and care there's no scent. For a person it's the same; if one looks to the life of a saint and becomes instilled with that one's qualities, the scent of true human will begin. That's why the Exalted Mevlana Rumi said, "Don't look for me in the tomb. I'm not in the tomb; I'm in the hearts of true Lovers of the Divine." The tomb is just a formality for the world. Every saint lives through his or her works, through the beauties they have left for us. Bequeathing goods and possessions doesn't give anyone life. From the saints we have the reflection of their beautiful thoughts and words of God.
