He behaved with the same kindness and thoughtfulness towards his wife, daughter, sons, daughters-in-law and adopted children; he guided them with love and fairness.
Rumi behaved the same towards people regardless their class or calling. One of his greatest characteristics was showing people their own essence, intoxicating them with the delights of God and inciting them towards the true path...Throughout his whole life, as an Islamic principle, Mevlana Rumi respected all those around him; whether man, woman or children. He behaved with the same kindness and thoughtfulness towards his wife, daughter, sons, daughters-in-law and adopted children; he guided them with love and fairness.
One day Rumi's daughter Melike was scolding her maid. Rumi came in and admonished her: "Why are you scolding her and making her feel
bad? I wonder what you would have done if she were the lady and you the maid? How would you like it if I were to make a proclamation to the whole world that no one is to be servant to anyone but God?
