'Er' Sheikh on the Red Ceremonial Skin!

During Prophet Mohammad era, women and men had circumambulated the Kaaba together.

Last Thursday (12-02-15), we witnessed another great reform in step with Muhammad's teaching at our Universal Mevlâna Cultural Center... For the first time since the 15th century, both the Postnişin (Sheikh of the Semâ ceremony) and head whirling dervish were women.
Two men were at stage, symbolizing Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali with these 'Er' Women (who doesn’t belong to any gender, on the quest of perfect human being).
During Prophet Mohammad era, women and men had circumambulated the Kaaba together.
In the light of this argument, Hasan Dede had included women in the choir and public Sema Ceremony along with men. Throughout history there was cultural and religious pressure which made it necessary for women to hold their Sema separately. Today women and men work in every occupation together and perform the rites of the pilgrimage together. Thus the Sema is an appropriate place for them to worship together.
In God’s Eyes men and women are 'One'!
