Roots and Leaves

Hazreti Mohammed is like the root of an Oriental plane tree, and his closest Companions are like the leaves of this tree. Thus we cannot give praise to the leaves without also speaking with love of the root. Hz. Mevlana said: “For as long as I live, I am the dust under Mohammed’s feet. I am the slave of his work: the Holy Qu’ran. If anybody looks at me outside of this, know that I will tire of this person and their words to me.”
By saying this, Hz. Mevlana was showing the highest respect and esteem towards Hazreti Mohammed, and also was showing that he was a loving slave to his work and his legacy. Whatever abundance and Beauty Hazreti Mevlana took in his life, he took it from the work of Hz. Mohammed, the Holy Qu’ran.
