A Real Treasure
At a Sema, a Dervish of enlightened heart was hoping to ask Mevlana, "What is poverty?"
Just then, in the midst of the Sema, Mevlana recited the following quatrain:
Poverty is the substance and anything else the accident.
Poverty is health - anything else is disease,
The entire world is trickery and pride;
poverty, rather than this world, is the treasure, the aim.
The Dervish wept and fell to the ground at Mevlana's feet, declaring himself a sincere disciple.
