Men and Women Together

"Those who see duality instead of unity are not from me."

The building where the Exalted Mevlana rests now, actually belonged to his father, the Exalted Sultanu'l Ulema. Men and women were seperated then. But it is known that, Rumi was invited by groups of women and did Sema together with them sometimes. In the sixteenth century a descendent of Mevlana, Divane Mehmet brought men and women together in a Sema Ceremony. In fact, his daughter Güneş Bacı filled the position of spiritual master.
After many years, in 1993 I brought women and men together in the Sema Ceremony. Since then, they do Sema together. As long as this group exists, it will continue like this. Rumi said, "Those who see duality instead of unity are not from me." Just as the prophets and saints made no discrimination, a Mevlevi dervish has no right to do so as well...(to be continued)
